Agentic AI

Agentic AI

AI systems that can take autonomous actions — writing code, browsing the web, using tools — not just generating text.

Agentic AI is the shift from chatbots to agents. A chatbot generates text in response to prompts. An agent takes actions: it writes and runs code, browses websites, calls APIs, manages files, and iterates on its own output.

Key capabilities of agentic systems: - **Tool use** — calling external functions and APIs - **Self-correction** — detecting errors and fixing them - **Planning** — breaking complex tasks into steps - **Persistence** — maintaining state across interactions

Examples include Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini CLI.
